Hub Lead and Co-Leads

The Asia-Pacific Hub is led by a small coordinating team and a growing group of country co-leads. Country co-leads provide local legitimacy and coordination, support stakeholder mapping, and help adapt Hub activities to their national context.

Hub Lead

Dr Vi Truong Lead, GO-GN Asia-Pacific Hub, University of Melbourne, Australia

Vi Truong is a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in the School of Computing and Information Systems at the University of Melbourne, and the Lead of the GO-GN Asia-Pacific Hub. A long-standing and active member of GO-GN, Vi is a committed advocate for open education. She believes that education should be free from barriers, and that openness is essential to making higher education fairer, more inclusive, and more responsive to the communities it serves.

Vi's research sits at the intersection of information systems and the social sciences, with a particular focus on education. Her areas of expertise include AI governance, AI literacy, digital ethics, human-computer interaction (HCI), human-AI interaction (HAX), educational technology, and engineering education. She has led and contributed to international and regional research projects across more than twenty countries, with partnerships spanning the Asia-Pacific, Europe, and Africa. Through this work, she is particularly committed to supporting and empowering vulnerable individuals and communities affected by rapid technological and social change.

Country Co-Leads

Assoc Prof Do Van Hung Co-Lead, Vietnam Vietnam National University, Vietnam

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Van Hung is Head of the School of Information Management, USSH, VNU-HN and a leading scholar in information management and digital transformation in Vietnam. He received his PhD in Information and Library Management from Victoria University of Wellington. His work focuses on information governance, open educational resources (OER), open education (OE), digital and information literacy, and generative AI literacy.

He has played a key role in advancing OER, OE and open science in Vietnam, including organizing national and international academic conferences on OER and OE, producing a growing body of scholarly publications in these areas, and contributing to policy development. Notably, he has worked with the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam on the development of national regulatory frameworks and draft circulars on OER.

Since 2019, he has collaborated with Meta on large-scale initiatives to strengthen digital and AI competencies for educators and students, including the development of national frameworks and capacity-building programs.

As Vietnam Co-Lead of the GO-GN Asia-Pacific Hub, he contributes to local stakeholder engagement, supports OER policy and ecosystem development, and helps contextualize regional activities to the Vietnamese higher education landscape.
