In the context of digital transformation and the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence, the conference seeks to examine emerging trends in higher education, particularly the development of Open Educational Resources (OER), Open Educational Practices (OEP), open science, and digital knowledge systems. It also highlights the role of open education in bridging the digital divide, expanding access to knowledge, and promoting lifelong learning across the Asia-Pacific region.
Furthermore, OpenAP 2026 aims to strengthen international academic collaboration, foster research networks, and enhance the quality and impact of scholarly publications in the field of open education.
To achieve the above objectives, the conference will undertake the following key functions:
Organize an interdisciplinary academic forum that connects research, policy, and practice in open education
Attract and select high-quality scholarly contributions through a rigorous peer-review process
Publish conference proceedings and promote international scholarly dissemination
Develop and expand academic collaboration networks at regional and international levels
Generate policy recommendations and models for advancing open education in the regional context
Strengthen the capacity of educators, library and information professionals, and other stakeholders within the open education ecosystem
